ABTRACT
The purpose of this research is to explore the business models in the context of Malaysian social entrepreneurship. Generally, this type of enterprise focuses on the social mission, but they also have to generate income in order to sustain the enterprise. There are several factors that motivate the social entrepreneurs to form their social enterprise, besides the challenges that they have to face in managing a social enterprise. This study is conducted by using an inductive qualitative method, in which four in-depth interviews were conducted to gather the information from four Malaysian social entrepreneurs. The data was analyzed by using both content and thematic analysis. The findings uncovered that the inclusive business model was one of the innovative business models that could be used in Malaysian context. In addition, factors that motivate the respondents to forms a social enterprise as well as the challenges have been identified in this study.Keywords: social entrepreneurship, social enterprise, challenges, motivation factors |
