SARAWAK'S YOUTH INDEX TO BE DEVELOPED AS INDICATOR FOR QUALITY & WELL-BEING
KUCHING, 16TH MARCH 2017 - The state of Sarawak will develop indicators to measure the quality and well-being of youth under the governance of Sarawak's Ministry of Youth, Sports and Solidarity with the focus on assisting the state government executing plans and programmes that will suit youth's needs. Institute of Youth and Research Malaysia (IYRES) proposed the Sarawak's Youth Index in a presentation held at Sarawak's Ministry of Youth, Sports and Solidarity. Chief Executive Officer of IYRES, Dr. Zainah Shariff lead the presentation in a session chaired by Minister of Youth, Sports and Solidarity of Sarawak, YB Dato' Sri Michael Manyin Anak Jawong. The session also includes Malaysia's Youth Policy and its relation to the Youth Index on both national and state level. The main core for this preposition on Sarawak's Youth Index is closely associated in creating the aspiration for the future of youth. This is crucial to instill positive values among youth as it has been a great priority for the state government to ensure and empower the focus for state's development and also the Youth Transformational Development & Empowerment Agenda in Sarawak. This presentation session received great feedbacks from the agencies and stakeholders involved in Sarawak's youth development which was attended by YB Datuk Hj. Abdul karim Rahman Hamzah, Young Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Mrs. Rosey Binti Hj. Yunus, Young Minister of Solidarity, Mr. Kameri Hj. Affandi, Permanent Secretary for Sarawak's Ministry of Youth, Sports and Solidarity, Tuan Hj. Abdul Haris Ishak, Director for Sarawak's Youth and Sports, Senior Officers of Ministry of Youth, Sports and Solidarity and representative from Sarawak United National Youth Organization.
