12 RESOLUTIONS PRODUCED FROM RTD: YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN CORPORATE SECTOR
KUALA LUMPUR, 14TH MARCH 2019 - Continuous effort in highlighting Malaysian youth potentials were further elevated through Round Table Discussions with the topic of Youth Involvement in Corporate Sector organized by Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) on 14th March 2019 at Kampo Hall, International Youth Centre (IYC), Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. The discussion served as a platform to identify the trend of youth involvement in corporate sector and gaining insights from youth, stakeholders and industry in increasing young generations involvement in corporate sector.
The discussion was attended by 121 participants consists of representatives from corporate companies, ministries and agencies, higher learning institution students, and youth organizations. The morning session started with paper presentations by three panels; Dr. Zainah Shariff, IYRES Chief Executive Officer that presented Youth Leadership Trend in Various Sector Across Malaysia; Mr. Junaidi Mansor from Khazanah Research Institute shared Roles and Contributions of Corporate Sector in Youth Development Agenda in Malaysia; and Mr. Wan Mohd. Firdaus Wan Mohd Fuaad from Young Corporate Malaysians presented Youth Preparations Venturing into Corporate Sector.
The next session was continued with a forum with the title Malaysian Youth Reality in Corporate Sector that involved three panels that were, Mrs. Norlia Noah from Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, Mr. Ahmad Zakuan Dahalan from United Nations Industrial Development Organization and Ms. Lim Wei Wen from Petronas Malaysia that addressed youth readiness in joining the corporate sector especially in equipping themselves with soft skills, communication competencies and vast knowledge of job scope applied.
12 resolutions were produced from the discussions and among the propositions are to create integrated platform comprised of various sectors to synchronize training opportunities, and incentives for polishing youth leadership talent alongside soft skills development. The resolution was handed over to YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Ministry of Youth and Sports from participants representatives, Vinoshinin A/P Bathmanathan from UniRazak, Nurfatin Amalia Binti Mohamad Yasin from Tripfez Travel Sdn. Bhd., and Ong Chong Ren from Public Bank Berhad.
YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman during the closing event mentioned that IYRES initiative will open more doors for youth to be involved in corporate sector as well as providing platform to reinforce youth leadership. This resolution will be submitted to the government for consideration to become input in policy making and developing framework for Malaysian Young Leadership Index.
