FINAL DRAFT REPORT PRESENTATION OF SARAWAK YOUTH INDEX
KUCHING, 21ST MAY 2019 – The presentation for final draft report on quality and well-being level of Sarawak youth through Sarawak Youth Index has been conferred at Steering Committee Meeting of Sarawak Youth Index Series 1 for 2019.
This meeting was chaired by Datu Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar Bin Marzuki, Deputy State Secretary of Sarawak (Socio Economic Transformation) at Meeting Room 1, 19th Floor, Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Kuching, Sarawak. The report was presented by Dr. Zainah Shariff, IYRES’ Chief Executive Officer as the project leader for this research.
This research has been developed by Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak (MTACYS) in collaboration with Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES) in 2018 through a grant that has been funded by Sarawak State Government. The presentation reported the performance of 12 domains and 50 indicators that were established to measure the youth quality and well-being in Sarawak enclosing various aspects such as Self-Development, Social Relation, Identity, Self-Potential, Health, Education, Economy, Safety, Political Socialization, Media Used, Leisure Time and Free from Deviant Behaviour.
This meeting also analysed, recognized and refined the suggestions and opinions from members of the meeting on final draft of Sarawak Youth Index. This meeting was attended by permanent members of the steering committee that consists of Sarawak Planning Unit, State Coordination Monitoring Unit, Department of Education Sarawak, and Department of Youth and Sports Sarawak. Dr. Dzulzalani Eden from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, a panel expert for Sarawak Youth Index was also present during the meeting.
This index is hoped to benefit all related stakeholders in Sarawak youth development that enables them to plan, draft and implement systematic strategy based on the facts obtained from this research to further improve the quality and well-being of Sarawak youth for today and in the future.
