FAKTOR-FAKTOR HALANGAN PENINGKATAN TARAF PENDIDIKAN DAN KEMAHIRAN BELIA LUAR BANDAR
ABSTRACT Youth generation play an important role especially youth in the economic development of the country. Effective and useful youth must be equipped with sufficient skills and knowledge to meet the needs of the national economy. However, there are still many youth that has low education background and skills. Therefore, this study was carried out to identify tendencies field of rural youth education and the dominant barrier for rural youth that do not pursue studies in academic or skills training. A survey using quantitative approach and supported by qualitative data was used. Survey using questionnaire had been distributed to 1,600 youth nationwide and a total of 1,259 people have return the questionnaire. Next, qualitative data was obtained from interviews with some rural youth participants. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, and mean score. The findings showed that the youths that are not pursue their studies have a tendency in agriculture field with score min 3.47 (1.03), followed by the field of creative media and culinary. There are also rural youth interested in the mechanical field, electrical engineering and civil engineering. The dominant barriers for rural youth to continue their studies was themselves with the mean score 3:34 (.70). The findings of the qualitative is the tendency of the areas obtained in interview session are engineering, science stream, religious, and army while dominant factors detected were economic problems, family responsibilities and work experience. The implications of this study are the National Youth Skills Institute is expected to expand related promotion program in the institute through the use of technology and social media . The institute also need to review the courses offered over the site to enable the institute as well as rural youths to venture into areas of their interest . |
