BANGKOK, 12th October 2022 - Regional Youth Policy Dialogue by The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism/ United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNOCT/ UNCCT) Global Programme on Preventing and Countering of Violent Extremism (PCVE) at the UN ESCAP facilities in Bangkok Thailand. The event provides a platform for young leaders to engage in dialogue with United Nation (UN) senior officials and Member State decision makers on PCVE related issues. The young leaders represent Member States across the region: Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Philippines, Indonesia, and East Timor. Chief Executive Officer, Institute for Youth Research Malaysia (IYRES), Dr. Vellapandian Ponnusamy has represented Malaysia and Ministry of Youth and Sports for this programme.
The event is part of Youth Engagement and Empowerment Programme (YEEP), is aimed at providing young people with an opportunity to share their perspectives and have a dialogue with government representatives, CSOs and UN agencies on how young people can be engaged to support PCVE policy efforts.
